In this episode of the Mic on Podcast, Reno Omokri spoke on wide-ranging topics with Seun Okinbaloye.
He takes on issues from politics to governance and societal dynamics. Reacting to allegations that he might have been paid for supporting the current government, he says
“I am not a campaigner for Bola Tinubu. I’m not even a supporter of Bola Tinubu.” He adamantly denied receiving any financial backing from Tinubu’s administration, asserting, “I have not collected a dime from Bola Tinubu’s administration.”
On his political affiliations, Reno emphasized, “I don’t work for this government (Tinubu’s administration),” while expressing unwavering support for Nuhu Ribadu (the National Security Adviser), stating, “I will give Nigeria all my support” as long as Ribadu is in the administration.” Reflecting on the 2019 presidential election, he defended his decision to propose Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate, asserting, “I don’t regret it because he (Obi) was the best at that time.” He advised Obi against contesting the 2023 presidential election, warning, “The only thing that you’re going to achieve in contesting is that you are going to split the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) votes and make it possible for Bola Tinubu to win.”
He urged former Kogi Governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello, who was alleged to be involved in a financial crime in tune of N80.2 to submit himself to the EFCC, Mr Omokri commended the agency’s prosecution of Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Regarding economic policies, Mr. Reno cautiously praised Tinubu’s administration, stating,
“If Tinubu’s administration continues to do what they are doing then, I think Nigeria is going to do well.”
