Recent appointments made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been criticised by some Nigerians, some have even accused the president of breaching the law. On this episode of the “Mic on Podcast,” Liborous Oshoma, a lawyer and Kayode Ogundamisi, a political analyst dissected issues around these appointments.
Mr. Ogundamisi says he’s surprised at the nepotistic tendencies being exhibited by the current administration.
“It is surprising that President Tinubu is carrying on the culture of favoring people from his own ethnic group as a President.”
He says.
Oshoma, on the other hand, called for a departure from the appointment practices seen in previous administrations, emphasizing the need to address concerns of nepotism in President Tinubu’s appointments.
Meanwhile, Oshoma specifically pointed out the appointment of the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, as illegal. Ogundamisi concluded by stating the importance of the government stabilizing itself and avoiding self-inflicted controversies. He suggested that a cabinet reshuffle might be necessary in the near future, stating,
“This government needs to stabilize itself and stop these self-inflicted controversies. I would expect that within the next three to four months, there would be a cabinet reshuffle.”
